The Costes armchair that, in 1984, marked the beginning of the collaboration between Philippe Starck and Driade, and the consecration of the then-unknown designer in Italy, is certainly one of these objects. Designed for the now defunct Parisian café of the same name, it owes its timeless success to the absoluteness of its form: an enveloping dark wood shell and three strongly inclined legs.
